HЗЧ из группы липидозов, характеризуется увеличением печени, селезенки, лимфатических узлов, прогрессирующим исхуданием, наличием в кроветворных органах фосфатид-позитивных крупных вакуолизированных клеток, умственной отсталостью, нарушениями органов чувств, летальный исход наступает в первые годы жизни; обусловлено нарушением обмена сфингофосфолипидов вследствие дефицита кислой сфингомиелиназы; наследуется по аутосомно-рецессивному типу, ген SMPD1 локализован на участке p15 хромосомы 11.
